Celebrate Yan Hong's birthday with classmates today. But I will give an update on this another time. Today I want to blog about something else.
I don't know about you. But every time I read about a natural disaster happening anywhere in the world, my passion to major in geography just burns stronger than ever. Not because natural disasers has nothing to do with economics (well, besides the costs it brings about from all the damage). Nor is it because I want to know how mother nature works her way. But because I want to help people; I want to save their lives.
I want to educate people how to read the signs of an impending disaster. I want to teach people how to respond to a disaster. Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Volcano eruptions, Floodings, Typhoons don't just occur suddenly. They do have signs to warn the people about its impending arrival. It is the people's unawareness, unpreparedness that makes it a disaster.
I have known for my entire life that my ambition was to help people. I can never be a doctor, a nurse, nor a vet. But I can be a teacher. And no matter how much criticism, how much more people telling me that I cannot do it, I DON'T CARE! It is my dream and I will make it come true.
Because I believe in myself, I want to help others. And above all else, I have faith in God.
